Marilyn Yvonne Seldon-Louallen (86) ascended to be with her husband Arthur Mae Louallen and the Lord on December 14, 2020.
Marilyn was born on October 30, 1934, in Washington, D.C. She was the youngest and only daughter born to William E. Seldon Sr. and Anna Gaskins. She is preceded in death by her two brothers Richard Seldon and William Eugene Seldon Jr. (Jean). Marilyn graduated from Dunbar High School and afterward matriculated to Howard University where she completed two years as a nursing major before starting her career and family.
Marilyn met Arthur and later married on March 14, 1952. From that union five children were born, Gail Annette Riddick (deceased), Arthur Gregory Louallen, Maxine Benita Newman (Robert W. Newman Sr,), Arnold Eugene Louallen, and Durshon DontaXavier Louallen. She is survived by 6 grandchildren (Devon, Terrance, Tarrin, Nicole, Eugene, and Robert Jr) and two great grandsons (Devon Jr. and Glenn). Marilyn retired from General Maintenance in 2000.
Marilyn was a long time DC resident whose love of her family and loyalty to her friends she made known. In her early life, she was an avid hand dancer and danced in competitions. She loved to be social and until her last days had an active friend group with who she loved spending time. In her alone time, she could be found reading books, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards especially Spades, cooking, playing the lottery, and was a huge Washington Redskins fan. People who knew her loved her cooking and could count on her homemade Arnold Palmers, fried chicken, and potato salad at any family function.
Marilyn was fiercely independent until her last days, lived her life on her terms, and had no regrets. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
She leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and extended family, and a host of other friends and acquaintances.
