Vincent Taylor Obituary

On Wednesday, September 15, 2021, Vincent Richard Taylor, Sr. peacefully departed this life and received his heavenly wings.

He was born in Penola, Virginia on June 16, 1936 to the late Richard Taylor and Marie Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his sister Katherine Samuel.

Vincent attended Caroline County, Virginia Public Schools.  He then joined the Army where he served for 5 years.  He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Reddy Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, VA.  After concluding his time of service in the military, he united with and married Vivian Taylor in April 1963.   He also began working at Atkinson & Keller Plumbing Company for over 25+ years as a skilled plumber, where he received various awards and recognition, and he never missed a day from work.  After Atkinson & Keller, he worked at Barry Plumbing, until his retirement.  He was a member of the American Legion where he was nominated and received an award for Outstanding Service.  He thoroughly enjoyed reading, particularly anything to do with history.  He had a massive collection of various books.  If he heard any of his children and/or grandchildren discussing any topic, you could count on him having and giving you a book related to that topic. He also had a passion for cooking.   He was a man of tremendous strength & courage.  He persevered through his illness, never complaining, focusing intently on his goal to remain self-sufficient.  He took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and listening to jazz and blues music.

He leaves to cherish in loving memories, a devoted wife Vivian Taylor, five daughters and one son, Zelda Pegues (Michael), Tawana Taylor, Gail Taylor, LeSharn Taylor, Vincent Taylor, Jr. and Tracy Clifford (Marlon), Brother-in-Law James Samuels; grandchildren Latoya Martin, Darrwen Putney, Rochelle Taylor, Rondelle Taylor, Shanoa Haynes-Penn (Simpson), Marcus Putney, Rico Taylor, Brandon Haynes, Rayshawn Taylor, Jasmine Taylor, Ricardo Taylor, Isaiah Jordan, Aliyah Clifford & Nailah Taylor; great-grandchildren Marcell Chapman, Sierra, Shania & Simone Penn and Taylor Davis; a special and dear niece Aretha Jackson, two devoted nephews John T. Samuel & James Samuel; and a host of relatives and friends.

Vincent’s presence will truly be missed.  However, our love for him is eternal.
